Kathmandu: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has directed its ministers in the government to allocate two days a week to actively listen to and address citizens' grievances and feedback. This decision was made during a meeting of the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Executive Committee held on Thursday.

Under this directive, ministers will dedicate the remaining five days of the week to focusing exclusively on the responsibilities of their respective ministries. Additionally, ministers are instructed to be present at the party's central office once a month. During these visits, they will engage with suggestions and demands from citizens that are channeled through the party’s provincial committees, districts, regions, and local levels. They are expected to implement appropriate recommendations arising from these interactions.

The meeting, chaired by party president and parliamentary party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba at his residence in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, also emphasized regular ministerial discussions on pressing issues to enhance government effectiveness and success. NC Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire shared that lawmakers and parliamentary committee chairpersons affiliated with the party were urged to actively work toward finalizing pending bills in their respective committees.

Furthermore, concerned ministers have been tasked with taking necessary measures to ensure the completion of development projects outlined in the budget and the current fiscal year's annual development programs.

The meeting also addressed recent incidents of violence, condemning the attack on senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi as he was leaving his office. The party called on the government to take strict action against those responsible.

Additionally, the meeting approved the selection of coordinators for key parliamentary committees. Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat was appointed as the coordinator of the Finance Committee, Sanjay Kumar Gautam as the coordinator for the Public Accounts Committee, and Chanda Chaudhary as the coordinator for the Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Natural Resources Committee under the House of Representatives.
